Happy Hurricane Season

Well, yesterday started off the 2006 hurricane season! Woo hoo! NOT!

The night brought thunderstorms and short and small power outages to some areas of South Florida. Welcome hurricane season! It was not a pleasant start to the season. But, the weather cleared and by noon it was sunny and glorious. Today is also a lovely day . . . sunny, hot, clear. Aaaaah, not a hurricane in sight! Pfew!

The house hunt is back on and I'm hoping to find one very soon and with hurricane shutters.

More big news, but since it's not public yet, we'll keep things on the D.L. here . . . no reason to stir up trouble when not needed.

Happy Friday one and all, and go get your batteries (for flashlights you trashy minds!)

I don't know what to do:

Get a generator or flee, get a generator or flee?

Oh, and Ian accidently deleted you from my link list when he added and arranged things. That wasn't me!

Hi - Happy Hurricane Season to you as well ;-). I actually grew up in South Florida and I was in High School during Hurricane Andrew (we lived in Fort Lauderdale East of 95). Before Andrew made its faithful turn southward to level Miami-Dade, they thought it was coming through Ft. Lauderdale and my family and I evacuated to Gainesville.

Hurricanes are just a reality of living in this wonderful state and so we have started our own blog focused on Hurricane and Consumer protection. Given the up tick in hurricanes and the Katrina disaster - we are worried that most citizens are vulnerable. A Big Wind is a community blog and forum with one mission: Hurricane protection through consumer protection, community involvement, and commerce.
Let us know your thoughts.

Thanks,

A Big Wind

Mrs. A.

Flee! I read a report that Shell's Mars platform in the Gulf was beaten up by 80 foot waves during Katrina. EIGHTY FOOT WAVES?? Definitely, grab the good jewelry and flee.

(by the way, youl'll still need the generator, for when you return)
